As we are in our 166th year as an association, we would like to invite you to participate in our Association Week of Prayer October 1-8, 2019. You’ll find specific prayer requests for each day listed below. Please incorporate them in to your daily prayer time. We appreciate your prayers and hope you’ll conclude the Week of Prayer by joining us at our Annual Celebration on Tuesday, October 8 at 6:30 p.m. at Lonoke Baptist Church. We look forward to
celebrating our association with you as we also hear from two of our pastors: Fred Dollar, New Hope Baptist Church and Reid Terry, Lonoke Baptist Church.

  • Tuesday, October 1—The Association—Did you know the association began in 1853 from people that settled here from the Carolinas?! What a long history we have in central Arkansas! We provide training, missions and opportunities to better prepare members in growing the Kingdom cooperatively. We currently reach our communities in Lonoke and Prairie Counties with 35 churches (including one church in Jacksonville). Jerry is asking each pastor to lead your church in praying for other churches during the morning worship time, throughout the year. With each church adopting other churches to pray for, our entire association will be blanketed in prayer and God’s Will be done!

  • Wednesday, October 2—International Missions: We have partnered with Guatemala for the past 14 years! Each year, a mission team has traveled to assist missionaries serving in the area. Through Operation GO and VBS, the Gospel continues to be shared. Pray for Gustavo as he works with mission teams who come to volunteer with churches/pastors in the area. Pray for our mission team going October 12-19 as they train pastors.
  • Thursday, October 3State/National Missions: For the past 15 years we have made missions our goal here in the
association. We have given numerous opportunities locally, within our association to do hands-on mission through
Community Outreach. We have had teams go to Kansas in the past to help with construction and VBS. And now we are currently exploring a partnership with Beebe FBC in going to Wyoming/Nebraska. Please be in prayer for the hearts of this very lost community as well as for the new Church Planter, Bro. Logan McCourtney, as he ministers to them. Pray for their hearts to be receptive to the Holy Spirit and the Gospel.

*Friday, October 4Mission Ministries: We support a number of mission ministries locally and always look for ways to partner in promotion of their ministry. As you pray over them, please consider where God may be leading you in support either financially or through volunteering.

Options Pregnancy Center—
Providing support for the purpose of saving the lives of unborn babies and educating young parents.

HIS Plans—This is a ministry of the Cabot Police Department’s Chaplain, Tina Frost. Through financial gifts, she is able to not only encourage her local officers but also minister to the community in their times of need.

Open Arms Shelter—Serving as an emergency shelter for abused children in our community, this ministry is always in need and we are proud to have served them for about 20 years!

Lonoke County Safe Haven—Domestic Violence is everywhere and this ministry serves more than our local county as they reach out to victims. They house women and children in a shelter and also have a thrift store that helps in
financially supporting the ministry.

Harbor City Church, Boston—Former Cabot FBC Pastor, Jason Tallent, followed God’s call to begin a new church in an extremely ‘lost’ community.

New Hearts Ministry—A residential recovery home for women is our newest ministry but also one of our most needed in the area/state. As women attend various life skill classes, they also learn the love and forgiveness of our Savior.
Financial support and volunteers are very much needed in this ministry as they continue to grow.

  • Saturday, October 5Mission Projects: Within our projects we have: church training conferences, VBS, association mass choir, senior adult celebration, women’s retreat and women’s celebration.

Our largest project has become our children/youth summer camp, summerLIVE. We have about 200 campers/adults each summer but are especially excited to see growth spiritually as we average 10% in decisions made for Christ. We strive to provide a quality camp at a fraction of the camps offered but this is only possible through the giving/support of YOU, our churches!

Pray for each of these areas as none is more important than the other with the same goal in mind. Lay members of our churches are given an opportunity through these projects to witness to the lost, fellowship with sister churches and grow spiritually.
  • Sunday, October 6—Association Staff

Jerry Miller, Director of Missions  Prior to coming to the association, Jerry served as Minister of Music at Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Cabot for 17 years. September 1 marked his 15th year at the association! While making missions a focus of the association, Jerry continues to serve as Pastor to the Pastors while also occasionally filling in at our churches as worship leader. Jerry is married to Linda and they have two children: Nathan (Tori) and Lauren.

Nina Burgan, Administrative Assistant  With several years experience having worked as secretary on the Missions Team of the Arkansas Baptist State Convention, Nina made the move to the association almost 16 years ago. The prior experience has served well in her role at the association in assisting Jerry in the planning of events as well as the day to day office operations. Nina and Smokey have three children and seven grandchildren: Coleman (Sierra and Hailey), Emily (JR with Matanda, Rella and Nakova) and Cody (Nathalia with Naomi, Benji, and Esther).
  • Monday, October 7—Evangelism Through Caroline Baptist Association
  • Join us in praying for a spiritual awakening with a renewed focus on the Gospel message, that our churches and their members make it their priority to share their faith. With eyes focused on Christ, we can certainly assist in the growth of the Kingdom for HIS purpose. To God be the Glory, now and forever!

Join us Tuesday, October 8, at 6:30 p.m. as we continue to celebrate OUR association!
